In our pandemic economy, inflexibility is deadly.
My fourth-grade teacher used to adopt a whimsical, high-pitched voice as she told us to be “liiiimber like the wiiilloow treeeee.” She waved her arms and swayed, mimicking the gestures of a pliant willow bending its branches in the wind. I thought she was goofy, but her message stuck.
